My pal Dave Ensign is currently dreaming up a fantastic family park destined to open next summer in Orlando.
Westward HO!e in One- the mid century roadside attraction that should have been. The park will feature an authentic mine train ride, panning for gold, a penny arcade, the Smoke Tree Barbecue, and an incredible miniature golf course, all with a mid century flare.
The lobby will be a mid century modern lodge. This will be where you purchase your tickets, or stop by the vintage penny arcade.
The Red Barn will feature a working garden, duck pond, and a collection of live stock.
The Smoke Tree BBQ will be located right behind it, complete with a stage for evening entertainment. The barbecue is even smoked in an old tree!
The golf course starts out on the old prairie. You then travel to the cactus filled desert and view the local geysers. Lastly, you’ll enter the mysterious caverns. The whole experience is filled with a cast of animatronic figures. All 32 putting greens are fully blended into the environment.
Look at these wonderful models!
The Mine Train ride will circle around the property. The locomotive, C. E. Barlow Jr., will start out in the Gold Gulch, through a cave and into the wilderness. Traveling over trestles and tunnels, you’ll see the golf course, waterfalls, and the pine forest. For the finale, you enter the cave, and see the local town shootout!
Doesn’t this kinda remind you of the Mine Train Thru Nature’s Wonderland?!?
Doesn’t the whole project sound wonderful? But Dave and his team need our help. To get through the planing and permitting phase, they need to raise $25,000. If you donate to the project on Indiegogo, there are some incredible benefits, ranging from tickets, to prints, to even getting your own animatronic! I encourage you to donate, any little bit helps. I hope to you see at Westward Ho!e in One when it opens next summer!
